Project Overview - Garden Office Building & Bar
For this project, our customer is based in the Greater London Borough of Bexley that borders Kent. This customer wanted a multi-purpose garden room to be used as an office space and entertainment area with a bar. As they were directly affected by the Covid-19 situation and unsure when they would be able to get back to work in the City, they needed additional space, as quickly as possible, to work from home in.
Our south-east London based client required the full service from Create A Space Ltd. This meant they didn’t want to carry out any of the work themselves, and wanted to ensure everything was completely finished before they moved into the space.
The requirements for this garden office building project were to also include a fully functional WC. Our client wanted to be able to work from home without having to leave the space and head back into their house. It would also be extremely useful too for his family to use when they are entertaining friends in their new multi-functional garden space.
What We Did
With this project brief in mind, our team here at Create A Space Ltd designed a room that faced across and into their back garden. One added bonus for our client was that the installation of the WC gave them a little extra room for a dart board.
Budget was important to the client as was the desired specification for their garden office and bar. We were able to meet both budget and specification by using the appropriate materials and adjusting the sizes of the garden office and bar space slightly. So, how did we do it? To begin with, the ground site required clearing before any construction work was carried out. Once this was done, we were able to adjust the location and orientation of the building to best reduce the impact on the overall garden. This also required our team clearing the foliage; this increased our ability to push the building towards the fence line by over a metre.
Once the screw piles were in place and the building erected, the customer was able to visualise the space and even went a step further in their plans by introducing a bar into the ‘dartboard’ corner. Our client found one and fitted it once the building was completed by us.
Throughout the duration of the project, we had a very close working relationship with the customer and customised the build as we were going. This helped us greatly when installing the electrics and data point where the client needed it for television and internet use.
